Export Controls for Higher Education Institutions

Welcome to this course about export control regulations on items (including materials, software and technology) of strategically sensitive products/items. This course was developed for researchers and other professionals working at Swedish higher education institutions.

Upon completing the course, participants will:

• Have a foundational understanding of export controls and their impact on research and education.
• Have a basic understanding of what regulated dual-use items are.
• Have a basic understanding of what military equipment is.
• Be able to identify risks related to export controls and understand the importance of legal compliance to avoid violations.
• Understand what an export control classification entails and when an authorisation may be required.
• Understand the concept of "due diligence" and recognize potential warning signs.
