The course “Introduction to Sustainable Mining Methods” provides the fundamentals of how current mining methods can be made more sustainable in the future. It is designed for individuals who already have knowledge of mining methods and are interested in making them more sustainable. The course outlines mining methods currently used by mines around the world, the challenges involved in making them sustainable, existing measures to improve sustainability, and potential future approaches.

This course is designed for undergraduate and graduate mining engineering students, as well as mining professionals who are interested in understanding the fundamentals of making current mining methods sustainable—or at least more sustainable—in the future.

How the course will be conducted:
This is a self-study course. The course is structured as follows: You need an internet connection and a computer, tablet or similar device to take part in the course. During the course, you will be able to take part in recorded lectures, videos, texts to read, and discussions.
To pass the course you need to:
At the end of the course, there will be a final test consisting of a number of questions that are connected to what you learned during the course. When you have gone through all parts of the course and passed the test, there is a certificate to print. You will find the certificate under completed courses. A description of how to find your certificate can be found at the end of the course.
