Full course description
When it comes to designing successful urban spaces, which work for both tourists and residents, analysing and understanding the influence of climate is crucial. This course will show you how to use computer-aided modelling in placemaking for better residential and tourism planning.
What you will learn:
Climate analysis for better public spaces
To design successful public spaces, for both tourists and residents, it is crucial to analyze and understand the impact of climate change. This three-week course shows you how to use computer-aided modeling in place-making for better planning of housing and tourism. You apply integrated urban planning when using computer-aided climate analysis and 3D modeling. It involves a holistic approach to the design process for the built environment, from all angles. This develops your ability to create design solutions for sustainable and attractive tourist destinations.
Weather and placemaking
Weather is an important factor in the planning of housing and tourism, and this course provides an in-depth insight into its effects. You will examine aspects such as solar access, shading, wind effects and snow patterns using cutting-edge technology and will be able to apply what you learn to your urban planning projects.
By the end of the course, you‘ll be able to:
- Explain how different climatic contexts generate different types of public spaces and usage
- Experiment with how the built environment alters wind and sun patterns
- Explain the likely climatic conditions of a place at various time of the year
- Create a Computer Aided Design for climate analysis
