Pre-requisite knowledge: Highschool or early academic level mathematics, fundamental knowledge in networking, fundamental understanding of Linux operating systems.
Course content:
Fundamentals of 5G/6G and their role in robotics: Understand the differences between 4G, 5G, and 6G, and how these technologies enable advanced robotics. Robotic systems integration with cellular networks: Learn best practices for connecting robots to network nodes and external processing units using ROS (Robot Operating System). Cloud and edge computing for robotics: Explore the benefits of offloading computationally intensive tasks to cloud and edge systems for real-time applications. Advanced Quality of Service (QoS) and cellular localization: Gain insights into how QoS can optimize network performance and how cellular networks aid in robot localization.
How the course will be conducted:
This is a self-pace course in English, approximately 15 hours of training including lectures and self-study.
To pass the course:
Participants will receive a certificate upon completion of the course after completing a quiz.
Teacher:
Rucha Sawlekar is a postdoctoral researcher in Robotics and AI at Luleå University of Technology. Her work focuses on neuromorphic computing and sensor fusion for subterranean environments. She is involved in several European and VINNOVA-funded projects like OptiScrap and REBOOT Skills.
George Nikolakopoulos is Chair on Robotics and AI and a Professor on Robotics and Automation at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering at Luleå University of Technology, Luleå, Sweden. His research team’s work has been included 4 times in a row at IVA top 100 list of the Royal Academy of Engineers in Sweden.
He is a member of the Board of Directors at euRobotics, a member of the Scientific Council of ARTEMIS in the field of Robotics and AI, a member of the IFAC TC on Robotics. an elected expert for the permanent working group (PWG) of A.SPIRE with a focus on Process Optimisation and Ultra Carbon Coal, as well as an elected member on the Aeneas-XECS in embedded control systems. He has also established the Digital Innovation Hub on Applied AI at Luleå University of Technology and created 2 spin-offs.
